Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

Syabrubesi (1,467 m)

The venture begins with an early drive from Kathmandu towards Syabrubesi. The drive along to the Langtang valley offers scenic perspectives on Annapurna ranges, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and other peaks.

As the drive continues, you enter into the lively settlement of Trisuli advancing towards Dunche as well as Langtang National Park. Here onwards, you drive down and hence reach Syabrubesi.

Day 02: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel

The actual trek of the venture commences from today. The trail passes through the Bhote Koshi river after heading out of Syabrubesi. The river flows close to Tibet. The route follows through the sub-tropical forest with a gentle ascent. Hereafter, you hike across the dense forests of rhododendron and oak. Along the forest route, you may encounter langur monkeys. A steep climb along the forest leads you to Lama Hotel.

Day 03: Trek from Lama Hotel to Mundu

Today the trail ascends with the sight of Langtang Lirung through the forest. As the trek progresses, you pass across temporary settlements with a gradual climb following the wide view of the valley. These settlements are inhabited by the herders. During summer, the herders use the settlements for their livestock to graze in the pasture lands. Here, you get to see yaks grazing in the pasture.

Moving further ahead, you arrive at a place which was the Langtang village. The settlements in the region were demolished by the 2015 earthquake. The village catered to travelers with several lodges but only a huge rock field is there currently. Here onwards, you reach Mundu after half an hour of the hike.

Day 04: Trek from Mundu to Kyanjin Gompa

Heading out of Mundu, the route proceeds through yak pastures with a gentle ascend. On continuing, the views ahead become wider as the valley spreads out. After hiking for some time, the route brings you to Kyanjin Gompa through various small streams and moraines. Since you’ll arrive in the afternoon, you can visit the monastery and hike up to Langshisha Kharka for the spectacular view.

Day 05: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Kyanjin Ri

6 hrs

On this day, the trail follows the route to Kyanjin Ri. In the early hours of the day, depart from Kyanjin Gompa and ascend to the hill top which is just northeast of Kyanjin Gompa. The route to the Kyanjin Ri is short and easy uphill yet a demanding climb.

Once you arrive at the Kyanjin Ri, you’ll enjoy the birds-eye view of snowy mountains, valleys and frozen lakes. After enjoying the scenic beauty, return to Kyanjin Gompa for the night stay.

Day 06: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

Trek Duration :

6 hrs

Head to the Lama Hotel retracing the path you hiked earlier. It’ll be easy to navigate and take short as the trails are more of descends. The route takes you to Mundu settlement following Langtang Khola and proceed to Ghora Tabela. On resuming the trek, you’ll arrive at Lama Hotel.

Day 07: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi

6-7 hrs

Head out of Lama Hotel after a lively breakfast. Today you can enjoy the trails as you’ll be traversing the same pathways. Instead of hiking through the same route, you can move to Syabrubesi from Rimche with stunning views. However, the route can take longer to reach Syabrubesi.

Day 08: Drive to Kathmandu

Today is the day to conclude the trek. You’ll be heading towards Kathmandu on a drive leaving the Langtang valley. Driving through the winding roads alongside the Bhote Koshi river, once again you come across iconic villages and farmlands. At long last, you’ll reach Kathmandu concluding the Langtang Valley Trek.
